“the sentencing council will publish new guidelines this October.”

am i wrong in thinking you expect something positive to come about from this. might have read too much into it

No I do expect something positive to come from it.  At a minimum, I expect that we shall have some clarity.

ahh thanks for clearing that one up for me mate.

the new guidelines are designed to catch out the big growers as i understand it but small home growers will have to read them carefully and decide how many plants they can risk growing.

it’s not entirely clear to me and i’m sure the judiciary will interpret them according to their sympathies.  the mandatory 6 month sentence if you guess wrong is worrying.

Is an across the board 6 month minimum really a possibility??  That would be astronomically stupid.  Small growers would be discouraged gifting their trade / custom to the Vietnamese etc gangs and pushing price and profits up! Surely not?  Professional cashcroppers already face 6 months plus (if caught) so there is no deterrent for them – I bet they can’t believe their luck if this happens.

Ignore the word ‘trade’ – it should say ….gifting their custom to…. Didn’t realise what I’d typed until I read it back – Heatstroke I think
