What he doesn’t seem to
realise is that it’s up to candidates to generate local interest, eg a
flier through every letterbox in the constituency – to use the fact that
a cannabis candidate is unlikely to win is a poor excuse since the
Party have always said they never expected to win. So that is a poor excuse that they would lose the £500 deposit as for that sum they would get free delivery of the fliers.
To say that CLEAR does not have the money is quite shocking and I have
to ask where have they spent the £3500 + that they inherited from LCA,
the (at least) £500 that must have been paid by what they claim are 5000
members, sales of T-shirts, extra donations?? This suggest
poor money management indeed and long ago CLEAR should have put the
money aside – after all they are a political party which is pointless
unless they contest elections> Back in the LCA days there
was indeed a separate fund for general elections and LCA always tried to
hold enough to fight general elections … so although Reynolds says
“we do have the benefit of some experience from when the LCA fielded
candidates in the past” it is actually very limited indeed, since he has
offended so many f=of the previous LCA Committee and candidates that
actually had the experience whilst PR himself was nowhere to be seen. They have not yet learned all the lessons of the LCA election campaigning and there’s few if any left to ask for advice.
this is either mis-management of the funds – or just another excuse …
in fact £1500 would not – should not – be difficult to raise – but
maybe they just find it easier to spend. I certainly will not
be contributed to a party led by an abusive man with no experience
pushing a policy that wants to make us pay for what is our Right.

You must have missed it Tim because it happened so quickly! We ordered the PA within a week of launching the appeal. It cost about £300 and you can see it in the photos of the Cannabis Truth roadshow in South Wales and Bristol. I’m not sure what the final total raised was. I’ll find out for you.

I think it would be helpful to know the result of the PA appeal. How much was raised and how much it cost? To avoid commitment fatigue.

Never, ever, say “we cannot expect to win” again. If you are going to do politics then approach it like you mean it.

Fair enough all you can do today is put your name on the ballot paper and turn up for the count and precious little inbetween but you are intending to expand and progress and that will only happen if you are unfailingly optimisic, even if it hurts.

I have joined and made a modest donation, spend it on winning.

Thats what i was thinking when i wrote the comment probably more worried about commenting on a pro cannabis issue then it having an effect on their bank accounts

I have been chasing Richard Branson for the best part of 10 years! I won’t tell you how he’s described by others who have asked him for donations. Let’s just say he’s not famous for his generosity!

I am, however, in regular contact with his son Sam, who is a film maker working on a documentary about the “war on drugs”.

alternative avenues of advertisement could also be considered (for instance, direct youtube advertising).

If we can all pull together, donate a little each and ultimately show others what “being in it together” means from our perspective of ending cannabis prohibition, perhaps we could use that as a sticking point for the media. have you considered contacting news outlets with promise of a way to better public health and boost the UK economy??
