Police Apology About Cannabis

    Harborough Mail, 22nd March 2012

This article was published in the Harborough Mail today.  CLEAR reported the original story here although the article has now been removed from the newspaper’s website so the links to it no longer work.

Our complaints to Northamptonshire Police and the Press Complaints Commission are still in progress.

good use of the word “misleading” there by the police when they mean “completely false”

Good work Peter. One wrong successfully righted.

Lets hope people read this and start questioning the next story that appears in the paper concerning cannabis. Now most people have access to the internet it is going to get harder and harder for papers to print this kind of crap.

I don’t always like the way Mr Reynolds has conducted himself in the past. And I have seen the hate campaign kicking around.
I do however, like that CLEAR is making a difference thanks to Mr Reynolds and HIS approach to the cause. One thing no one can deny is, it is making a difference.

If nothing else, the media is having to THINK before it prints complete lies, and knows it will be held accountable for the things it says.

Death by a thousand cuts……. Well, maybe a few more (they (the newspapers) do have some very wealthy  backers).

To simply have this article and be able to post it is a reward in itself. Of course, the newspapers are run by wealthy advertisers. Nothing has changed.

Nothing will change unless people continuously kick up a stink about it. I don’t know about you but I am bored of leaving things to other people to sort out, yes it helps but everyone (not just PR) needs to be making as many complaints as possible otherwise nothing will happen.

Yup, this is a good result. Let’s see some more examples of “officialdom”  admitting their mistakes.

Anyone see the episode of lunch time soap “Doctors” yesterday (22 March 2012) there was some misinformation about Cannabis in it. A copper said they mix “opium” in with cannabis to get people addicted quicker and also another character said cannabis turns people into down and outs!

“Incorrect information provided to the media”. The unedited info from the police to the media stated, after the line on carcinogenic smell that; “this information came from the internal police intranet and that the carcinogenic claim should be backed up by an expert before going to print”
What bothers me is that the police info rep that made that comment obviously knows that this type of bullshit propaganda lie is perfectly acceptable if only for the internal eyes only use of police officers, knowing full well that it is bullshit in the real world, far away from the corrupt, biased policies of government, and yet seeks to continue and maintain the government line regardless of it being true or not. Ignorance breeds ignorance. So for the police to knowingly propagate non truths and encourage ignorance throughout their ranks and presumably then onto members of the public just goes to show what a messed up institution it has become.

This is very good news for us.  If it is the case that the Home Office Internet returns “DEATH AND INSANITY” when some poor PC types in Cannabis, this is food and drink for us.  It is only Right and Proper that we should make the Home Secretary aware of the errors.

After all, these mistakes cost tax payer money and the sooner they are put right the better for all of us.  Win win for Clear and the whole community.

A bit of publicity would be bonus but  will settle for a farthing of me income tax.

As we are seeing, it will take us a little while to reach all the places we need to reach but Government and Press are becoming aware that we are here and all we want is them to do is not tell lies.  Once they do this there is nothing left that the press can print about it except to question the validity of the excuses the government uses to refuse legislation.

Well done, part of the reason why cannabis is still illegal is because the public are quite ignorant of the truth about it and this is in no small part because of the lies that have been told about it in the mainstream press. It is good that these lies are being challenged.

What is the deal with Bradford West by the way?  Do CLEAR have a candidate to stand in the by-election?
