He basically sent me a stock Home Office letter saying “drugs are bad” and reducing harm is only possible through prohibition. This guy is a complete moron, I saw him at a live debate at Wolverhampton University and he had no substance whatsoever and kept saying things in response to questions like “I don’t want to get all political on you, but…”

I have written to David three or four times times. Firstly about my sons police caution (cannabis) which he is stuck with for life it seems. Secondly about removing restrictions on farmers for growing hemp. Then about the lack of any mention of hemp in the energy white paper and lastly about Winston Matthews.  He always forwards my letters to the relevant department and I always get a response ( stock letter) from the HO. I have had replies from brokenshire (moron), may (hippocrocapigmoose) and henley moron) all the same paragraphs but not necessarily in the same order, drugs are bad m’kay.. My letter about Winston Matthews has been forwarded to Ken ‘baccie’ Clark – I am still waiting for a response.  David has yet to reveal his stance on cannabis but I believe he is one of the good guys.

Steve Bakers personal secretary wrote back saying Steve agreed with the party policy and Home Office stance that Cannabis is dangerous and has no medicinal value etc. There was however a glimmer of hope as the very last sentence said something like ‘Steve thinks drugs are bad, but that prohibition isn’t the answer/isn’t effective’ or something along those lines. (My original letter asked about drugs decriminalisation in general).

He’s something high up in regards to health, and although he sent me a ‘drugs are bad’ he made the general comments about mental health ect, but mainly forward me on to baroness browning. Although he was against, he seemed vaguely open to the concept of regulation.

This guy is a good MP imo and his reply was not the usual stock reply so I respect him for that even if he doesn’t agree with us.. perhaps he would with some education though which is why I’ve given him a rating of 7 not 10.

“I understand your point of view with regards to cannabis, but I’m afraid that I don’t share it. I hope you will view my honesty as a sign of respect for you. You are right to state that some legal substances are harmful, but it is my sincere belief that we should not encourage people to take other harmful substances by legalising them. Legalising cannabis would, in effect, imbue it with a kind of indirect approval that I do not think would be helpful. Much of the press coverage of cannabis is sensationalist, as you say, but I believe that its possession and use remains illegal with good reason.”

Had an email conversation with with Mr Graham and he was happy to listen to what I had to say. I sent him a pretty comprehensive email listing as many peer reviewed studies as i could and virtually no anecdotal evidence. My (non drug using) wife read it through and couldn’t see how he could disagree with me. Anyway, he replied and was typically non-commital but you could tell he was just towing the party line. I replied and said just restated my concerns etc and the final line of his reply to that was:

‘Yes classification of drugs matters: is it my number one cause? No. Am I interested in how you promote you cause? Yes. Do I have much time to give to this at the moment? No. But when the jobs situation is better and we have less youth unemployment I may have more time.’

Not too bad for a conservative and I appreciate the fact he actually bothers to reply, just wish he’d grow a pair and speak the truth instead of spouting lies he’s been told to say by his boss.

      Numerous correspondance, last in 07/11.

1st to ask he support a request for a meeting between Peter and the Home Secretary: On his response stated that he did not support legalisation/decriminalisation but agreed that it was an important issue and that he was in favour of open debate on the subject and was happy to forward my request.

2nd to ask him to condemn Bill 62-EN? (regarding the Home Sec being able to pick and chose at random who ends up on the ACMD). He disputed my concerns but we had a reasonable discussion.

3rd to ask him to forward my letter to Charles Walker (essentially decontructing his little rant in the commons). He agreed to forward my letter, as I’d received no response, but didn’t comment on it at all.

I emailed 647 MP’s to make them aware of a report which was first published in 1994 called; The Report. Cannabis: The facts, Human Rights and the Law ISBN. 9781902848204, and received replies from about 20, 2 positive and will look into it and the rest said to get in touch with my own MP and that they had sent the details on to him. I received a reply from Jeremy Browne MP my local Lib Dem MP stating the Home Offices stance on cannabis. Mr Browne himself had received a letter from Earl Howe (parliamentary under secretary of state for quality (Lords)) along with the Home Office Report Cannabis: Classification and Public Health, and he sent this on to me. I have been through the whole bibliography of this Report. As I am already waiting for Crown Court, My husband and I are going not guilty on a production of cannabis charge and are using as our main defense; The Report. Cannabis: The facts, Human Rights and the Law. We are also going to refer to The Home Office guidelines and that it is misrepresenting the law regarding cannabis. 20 articles in the bibliography are about the rise in Schizophrenia and Psychoses, the Court  may say it is inadmissible along with the Department of Health’s other report; The systematic review of the incidence and prevalence of Schizophrenia and other Psychoses in England, 250 pages but definitely worth a read. Guess what? No rise in the incidence and prevalence over time. We are also going to be using this.I will be getting back to my MP about all of this but as you can imagine I have other pressing matters to deal with in the mean time. Why have they made this law when they know cannabis is harmless and they are making criminals out of people for no good reason.

I wrote to him asking about cannabis legalisation/decriminalisation etc he sent me a stock letter back, the first paragraph reading ‘all drugs are bad m,kay!’ Second paragraph, ‘concerning links between cannabis and psychosis and psychological illness’, third paragraph, ‘illegal drugs cost the UK £15.4bn per year, 400,000 benefit claimants are drug users’, he has an OBE and is an absolute disgrace, he does not represent me or my constituency, if I ever had the chance I would give him a piece of my mind.

      dear sir,
please could you tell me if you would support a regulated
      system for cannabis?
…can  you also tell me if you are opposed are you opposed on grounds
      of morality or principle?
….would you be likely to respond to a cost/benefit analysis?
….and finally would you support medicinal use but not recreational?

here is a response i received when i applied for a licence a year ago…i am assuming that the governments stance on the issue has change so much that i will now be able to go ahead and start growing lol

      Reference: T2065/9 Date: 10 February 2009

      Dear Mr Smith,

Thank you for your e-mail of 2 February enquiring about obtaining a licence to enable you grow cannabis for personal medical use.

Although I have every sympathy with your condition, and the benefits you think you might derive from a combination of oak bark garlic and cannabis, I must explain that cannabis is under the highest level of control in this country as it has no authorised medicinal uses. I should explain that the Government has no intention of legalising the use of cannabis in its raw form for medicinal purposes. It, nevertheless, recognises that there are people with chronic pain and debilitating illnesses who are looking to alleviate their symptoms and who may not find adequate relief from existing medication.

That is why the Government has said that it would seek Parliament’s agreement to make necessary changes to the law to enable the prescription of cannabis-based medicine for the purposes of relieving pain. But this could not happen without product approval being granted by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). In order to protect public health, the Government faces difficulty in making any changes to the law unless, and until, it is satisfied that the benefits have been formally established by the statutorily recognised means. Doctors must be confident about the products they prescribe. This position is supported by the British Medical Association.

I hope this helps explain why, in these circumstances, and despite the compassionate nature of your particular circumstances, we are unable to accede to your request for a licence to enable you to grow cannabis.

I am sorry to have to send such a disappointing reply.

      Yours sincerely

      Mike Evans
      Drugs Branch

Chase them up, you have given more than enough time for them to reply. I chased up after only a week and basically got told to wait, keep chasing and keep the pressure on them to slip up in their replies and make them selves look like tits.

I am currently drafting a letter to Mr Goldsmith in order to gauge his reaction. I know he is a passionate environmentalist so I will be sure to mention hemp. God Made all the plants for all the people no government has the right to deny any person from growing any plant on this planet especially when it has the power to heal.
The governments of the world have lied for 80 to 100 years about this plant
They have tried to irradicate it of the face of the planet and why?  because it has the power to cure to much.
      Tourettes
      Multiple Sclerosis
      Epilepsy
      Parkinsons Disease
      Heart Disease
      Mentall Illness
      Obesity
      Cancer
A 100 years ago the medics that had the buildings and the money wanted to cut out and burn the scabs on the people but nature already had a better way and it was free or small money so they plotted together to destroy the cannabis plant,  Gods gift to everyone, but the fools removed and dissallowed the cannabis plant from the pharmacopoeia meaning the cannabis plant could not be used in any medicine which it was at the time and for the next 80 to 100 years had no cure for cancer.
And a 80 – 100 years later the medics are still trying to cut out and burn the scabs with chemotherapy which chemo kills half its patients anyway and gives cancer.
In 2008 about 12 million people around the world were diagnosed with cancer and 7 million deaths.
if cannabis only saved a third of those lifes the governments around th world can pat themselves on the back for being responsible for the deaths of 2.3 million people and thats just one year.
From 1920 to 2012 whats the total deaths going to be from this fake war on a plant that cures cancer?,  I think its going to be more than Hitler did in the 2nd world war.
so if the governments wish to continue this fake war on a plant that heals peolple not kills people with cancer and a whole lot of other illness’s and don’t care about the 2 or 3 million deaths a year that could have been saved then maybe its time for a regime change.

In response to my email I received a letter stating that ‘Drugs ruin lives and cause misery to families and communities across the country’ and that ‘The status of cannabis as a controlled substance has been heavily discussed both inside and outside of parliament for a long time, and successive governments have taken the view that it should remain illegal.’ Basically,

‘drugs are bad, the government has no intention of changing their policy on cannabis.’
