    Sentencing Council Drug Offences Guidelines

    The new drug offences guidelines will be published on the Sentencing Council website at 00.01 tomorrow morning, 24th January 2012.

    The guidelines will come into force in the courts from 27th February 2012.

    The key points to look out for are:

    1. Recognition of medicinal use as mitigation

    2. Sentencing guidelines for two or three cannabis plants with no evidence of intent to supply.

    I am optimistic that there may be real progress towards a more rational policy here.

      well from the news it looks as though medical use may be considered during sentencing but nothing on a personal plant count so far…
