Should Cannabis Be Legalised?

    Brian Paddick

This is an excellent short documentary which examines what happened in Brixton in 2002 when Brian Paddick, the local police chief, introduced a tolerance policy towards cannabis.

It is based on an academic study of the evidence by economists at University College London.  Not all of the conclusions of the study will be comfortable reading for CLEAR supporters but we need much more of this sort of evidence based discussion.  It is through such professional and responsible communication that reform will be achieved.

The local house prices dropping due to cannabis policy wouldn’t occur if it was country wide so that negative would be removed.

Houses are much too expensive anyway. A fall in house prices would benefit individuals buying, people renting from buy- to let landlords, and the economy generally, (as a great deal of personal debt and banking instability originates in the housing market.)

The experiment needs to be done all over England & Wales for a trial period of about 4 – 5 years, only then will we see the true success of legalization.
