Cannabis Is A Wonderful Thing

First published October 2010.Two days ago, I found this marvellous image of Hunter S. Thompson which reminded me of something I've been meaning to write about for ages. Cannabis is a wonderful thing. We spend so much time having to engage in intellectual, scientific, medical, moral and human rights arguments that we forget to tell the truth. We forget to say what's good. And on the...

New Amsterdam. A Way Forward?

As someone who first visted Amsterdam in 1973 and is a veteran of the Vondel Park all-summer festivals, I say perhaps there could be a positive out of the clampdown on coffee shops. It negates one of the greatest benefits of an end to prohibition - taking the market away from criminals....

Mother And Daughter Sent To Prison For Five Plants

This story made me weep. For five plants and 11 cuttings, Jeanette Turner, aged 48, of Highley Close, and Nina Rogers, 30, of Kingham Close, both in Redditch, were jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to drug production. The full story is here. Judge Christopher Plunkett is a vile monster and a sub human brute. he can come and take me away and lock me up if he wants to because I do...

Today the NHS released new statistics on the enormous damage that Britain's favourite drug causes. Admissions to hospital for alcohol abuse reached 1,057,000 in 2009-10. See the BBC story: "Alcohol-related hospital admissions reach record level" Similar figures for hospital admissions in 2009 are: Peanuts - 3000 Cannabis - 750 Now there are "lies, damned lies and statistics" so take them as a pinch of salt. Is this really news? When I researched the same...

Cannabis: Nature’s Miracle

INDIGO HAWK has been medicating himself with marijuana for nineteen years, yet he's only known he's been ill for the last two. In February 2009, Indigo experienced a numbness which started in his hands and within a week had spread throughout his whole body. His GP sent him to a neurologist who performed some tests suspecting he had Multiple Sclerosis. She carried out a nerve reaction test, which is basically pricking his skin with a pin, the...
