Letter To The Times On Drugs Policy, 11th June 2013

Sir, The reason that in some parts of the US there are now more medical marijuana outlets than branches of Starbucks (Drug policy danger, letters 11th June) is because there is a huge demand for cannabis. Where there is a huge demand for something which the state prohibits, the price rises and a criminal market is created. As we have seen very clearly from alcohol and cannabis prohibition, that quickly leads to violence, human trafficking and far more harms...

Ketamine Linked To Irreversible Bladder Damage, Yet In A Lower Class Than Cannabis

By CLEAR member stickybud Channel 4 News recently carried a report about several young people suffering severe bladder problems, due to their recreational use of ketamine (see it here) This has necessitated drastic surgery, including reconstruction of the bladder, using part of the intestine; and, in several cases, its complete removal. I don't know about anybody else, but I find this horrific and depressing: no 21-year-old kid should have to spend the rest of their life with a...

Tomorrow, 6th June 2013, MPs Debate The HASC Drugs Inquiry Report

The debate takes place in Westminster Hall, starting at 1.30pm and can be viewed online here. If I were able to speak , this is what I would say. I have asked several 'friendly' MPs whether they might be able to say something similar.I would like to ask the chair of the inquiry why the issue of medicinal cannabis was not considered at all. It was the subject most often referred to in all the written submissions of...

Sativex Update

The new regulations concerning Sativex came into force today.Put simply, Sativex has been moved into schedule 4 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations so it can now be dealt with by doctors, pharmacists and patients in the same way and with the same restrictions as diazepam (Valium). If you've been following CLEAR's work on the Sativex scandal you'll understand that what is really going on here is a corrupt use of ministerial orders falsely to distinguish Sativex from...

Sativex Re-Scheduling Demands Judicial Review

Dishonesty is at the root of the legislative changes about to come into force concerning Sativex, the cannabis medicine produced under an unlawful licence and gifted as an unlawful monopoly, enforced with violence by armed police, to a privately owned company. This is government corruption by statute at such a level that it should fascinate the finest legal minds in Britain. The trickery that the Home Office has devised falsely to distinguish a proprietary cannabis extract...

The Sativex Scandal Deepens. Corruption And Dishonesty At The Home Office

Whose Pockets Are Being Filled By The British Government's Corrupt Cannabis Policy? The mists of deception and the stench of corruption are swirling around the Home Office and GW Pharmaceuticals. Yesterday's 'advice' from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs on Sativex finally reveals the council to be the propaganda tool of the government. However many times you may have given Marsham Street the benefit of the doubt, now is the time to face facts. Since...

Home Office Deception On Medicinal Cannabis

Two years after the ACMD first advised that Sativex should be in schedule 4 of the Misuse of Drugs Regulations, this is how they propose falsely to distinguish it from cannabis. This is a connivance and a lie, the result of which is to deny sick and disabled people access to the cannabis they need as medicine and to reinforce the corrupt and unlawful monopoly of medicinal cannabis granted to GW Pharmaceuticals. Is this the point at which...

There Will Be Blood On Cameron’s Hands If Lindsay Sandiford Is Executed

Indonesian Firing Squad The 'war on drugs', the great, immoral evil that is prohibition, is responsible for the cruel and unjustifiable death sentence passed on Lindsay Sandiford. Cameron is one of the principal supporters of prohibition. His irresponsible and hypocritical drugs policy, along with his co-conspirators in the US is what creates the climate in which Indonesia implements such harsh and inhuman punishments. Of course it's true that cocaine can lead to death and misery...
