22 May IPCC Upholds CLEAR Appeal On Complaint Against Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has upheld CLEAR’s appeal on our first complaint against Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.
The complaint concerned Sir Bernard promoting misinformation and false propaganda about cannabis and engaging in politics, from which all police officers are prohibited.
This doesn’t mean that our complaint has been successful. It means that the IPCC has rejected The Mayor’s Office of Policing and Crime’s (MOPAC) contention that the complaint was ‘fanciful‘.
This means that MOPAC must record it as a formal complaint and Hogan-Howe will now face an investigation.
