03 Nov Labour Party Policy On Cannabis
In September, during the party conference season, I wrote to the Labour Party asking if it would clarify its drugs policy, particularly with regard to cannabis. Today I received the following reply:
“On drugs, our message is clear: we will not tolerate illegal drug use. We want to see fewer people start using drugs and to reduce the problems to society and the damage to communities caused by drugs. In Government, we took the tough and necessary action to deliver this aim including reclassifying Cannabis to a class B drug and extending powers to seize drug dealer’s assets to demonstrate that crime does not pay.”
Katy Diggory, Frontbench Communications Team
This statement speaks for itself and its message will ring loud and very “clear” with those concerned for intelligent, progressive, evidence-based policy.

The fact remains; Cannabis should be a medical & scientific issue. NOT a political one.
